UP-TO-ME Renewable Methanol Production Case Study in the Aegean Islands

On Monday, 29 September 2025, a dissemination event took place in Heraklion, Greece, to showcase the innovative UP-TO-ME technology and promote knowledge exchange among stakeholders across the Aegean Islands.

The event brought together local representatives from the marine and wastewater sectors, as well as members of the public, to discuss and explore sustainable energy solutions tailored to the needs of island communities.

As part of the UP-TO-ME project, Dr. Dimitrios Kolokotronis of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) delivered an insightful presentation on the Crete Island Renewable Methanol Production Case Study, demonstrating the project’s potential to advance renewable energy technologies in the region.

Special thanks to Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation of Heraklion (DEYA Heraklion) for hosting and to G. Koufodimos and M. Hatzakis (Thalis Environmental Services S.A.) for organising the event.
