Project Partners

Those who make UP-TO-ME possible!

The UP-TO-ME consortium is a combination of seven amazing organisations including technology companies, research institutions and a university, all based around Europe.

Each project partner is an expert in their field and brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to the project.

UP-TO-ME consists of seven work packages with different requirements, all contributing to the overall success of the project. Project partners are responsible for at least one work package and are all highly committed to the future changes UP-TO-ME can have on the environment.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, VTT

VTT, our project Coordinator is one of the leading Research and Technology companies in Europe with an 80 year track record of solving scientific and technical global challenges, turning them into opportunities for society and other companies. In UP-TO-ME, VTT is responsible for the management of the project as well as building and testing the 3D printed reactor and preparing the methanol synthesis catalyst.

Global Omnium Medio Ambiente S.L., GOMSL

GOMSL is a water management company widely established in Spain. GOMSL has embarked on several international projects all over the world. In UP-TO-ME, GOMSL will characterise several biogas streams generated in real WWTPs operated by the company. This will provide different scenarios for the development of the UP-TO-ME technology at both laboratory and pilot scale.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT

The KIT mission combines three strategic lines of activity: research, higher education and innovation. KIT is one of the largest academic institutions in natural sciences and engineering in Europe. KIT will develop the full automation of the Power-to-Methanol-Plant for an unmanned and self-optimising operation. Additionally, KIT will study the integration of the UP-TO-ME technology in WWTPs using process modelling.

Isle Utilities, ISLE

ISLE, is a global independent technology and innovation consultancy that revolutionises the way that emerging technologies and sustainable solutions are commercialised. In UP-TO-ME, ISLE is acting as the facilitation between technology developers, industry end-users and investors to accelerate the market uptake. ISLE also manages the Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication activities of the project to ensure it has enough visibility for the commercialisation stage.

cloudfluid

cloudfluid is a German High-tech startup in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Their combination of customised smart clients and GPU-based solvers int the cloud allows them to deliver fluid dynamics analysis faster and easier than possible before. In UP-TO-ME, clouddfluid will use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CDF) models for the development of geometries for 3D printed structured packings in the 3D printed reactor.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, AUTH

The largest established university in Greece whose mechanical engineering Department is participating in the project. In UP-TO-ME, AUTH will make an assessment on the feasibility of the fuel being used as a marine fuel. Additionally, they will then test the methanol quality through characterisation and engine testing in terms of energy, efficiency and emissions.

ICODOS

ICODOS is a German company with a breakthrough technology that revolutionizes the e-methanol production landscape by enhancing efficiency and minimizing production costs. ICODOS’ patented e-methanol process enables the de-fossilization of the marine and chemical industries and serves as seasonal storage of renewable energy, through decentralized production of this highly versatile energy carrier.
